Smoked Chili Salt...Spice up the Rim!


It was so easy to put together this concoction and I'm surprised I didn't know how easy it was but then I've never really cooked prior to COVID-19! What a pleasant surprise and I will never buy rim salt or chili salt again! This smoked chili salt will last for up to 1 month if kept in a air tight container and the best part is that it can be used in so many recipes and not just as rim salt for margaritas. I tend to put the chili salt on watermelon, cantaloupe, even bananas (It's an Asia thing) to give it that spicy flavor and aroma! Great as a marinate on fish or meat as well. I used kosher salt vs regular salt. The difference is in the structure of the flakes and is less likely to contain additives like anti-caking agents and iodine. I would not substitute kosher salt for regular salt but sea salt flakes such as Maldon will work as well. Also makes for a great gift idea..just top in an air tight container with a ribbon! Viola!


Ingredients

  1. 1/4 cup kosher salt

  2. 1 tsp chili powder

  3. 1/2 tsp smoked paprika

  4. 1/2 tsp chipotle power


Process


Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and store in a air tight container.


Simple as that! ENJOY and remember you can add or exclude ingredients to your desires!! I've discover as a new cook that you need to try new recipes to experimenting and challenge myself!
