Appetizers - Channa Inspired Snacks!
I'd already shared my recipe for the channa masala as the main dish and using the channa masala as an appetizer is just as easy.
I used hash browns, samosas and potato tikki (aloo tikki)! These are so easy to make...well only because this time I store bought all three snacks! I couldn't find the Indian crispy bits that normally we would put on top of the dish to add to the crispiness but you can always substitute as I did by using hickory sticks!
INGREDIENTS
Hash browns
Samosas
Allo tikki
1 Pomegranate - de seed it
Handful chopped coriander
red onions - sliced or diced..your preference
green chili - sliced (optional)
Tamarind sauce (see Flavors and Aroma for recipe)
Hickory stick (something crispy)
Channa masala powder(see Flavors and Aroma for recipe)
PROCESS
1. Deep fry the hash browns, samosas and the aloo tikki.
2. Remove from heat and place on paper towel covered plate to absorb the oil
3. There are couple of ways of doing this...sort of like a buffet style..let everyone plate their own dish or you can plate for everyone...
This is the plating:
Snack (hash brown, samosas, aloo tikki
Take a fork and break them up a bit so the channa masala sauce gets inside
Pour channa masala on top
Pour the tamarind (imli) sauce on top, then garnish with onions, green chili, coriander, and pomegranate seeds.
Sprinkle with channa masala powder.
ENJOY!!
